The Editorial Wedding is a new workshop for wedding photographers aiming to raise their professional profile and promote their business through publication both in print and online. It combines the inside track on getting published with the practical experience of a gorgeous, professionally-styled shoot in a friendly, supportive and motivating environment.
YOU WILL LEARN…
- how to add an editorial element to your wedding photography, making the most of design, details and context
- which images to submit for publication, and which to save for your portfolio or for the couple’s album
- differences between blog and magazine submission and publication
- where to submit your work, and how to give yourself the best chance of success
- common mistakes and how not to make them
- how to network and build your profile so that editors find you
- how to make the most out of publication and use it to build your brand.
You’ll also have plenty of time to ask questions, take photographs at the styled shoot and get to know your fellow photographers! Both before the workshop and after, we’ll be hosting a closed Facebook group where you can share your images, questions, ideas and success stories. You’ll also be taking home a ‘cheat sheet’ guide to UK and international publications to keep handy for whenever you have images ready to submit. Please note that the workshop assumes a professional level of technical expertise – you’ll get the most out of the day if you have been shooting weddings for at least a year.
The Editorial Wedding is a full day workshop, which includes lunch and refreshments. Please let us know your dietary requirements when booking. We’re also planning an informal dinner after the workshop at a local restaurant, which will give you even more chance to ask questions and chat to the other participants in a relaxed environment. Our venue is the beautiful Cannizaro House in Wimbledon, South West London. The cost of the workshop is £325 per person and includes a takeaway ‘cheat sheet’ guide to UK and international submissions.
THE STYLED SHOOT
We’re delighted to have Louise Beukes of b.loved on board to style our shoot, and she’s already working on some amazing ideas! As a highly sought-after stylist (and a blog editor herself), she always delivers on delightful details! There will be at least four ‘tableaux’ to photograph and you’ll have plenty of opportunity to get involved and take pictures of them. We’ll be sharing the shoot theme ahead of time, so watch this space!
